It was a cold and cloudy Saturday morning. We got up at 3:30am and were on the road to the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta by 4:15. When we arrived at the Balloon Fiesta Park at 5:45am, the weather was unchanged. The outlook wasn’t good for the mass ascension scheduled for 7am — 8 o’clock came and went and still no ascension. At about 8:20 the awaited announcement came; they were launching. We had a great vantage point; an elevated platform overlooking the inflating balloons. It was the perfect place to shoot photos. And, finally, the first balloons went up. It was a glorious site. Here’s a picture of one of the balloons aloft.
