We chose this wonderful shot taken at Sprague Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park for several reasons. The first was today is World Photo Day. We wanted to share a special photo in our regular Friday Photo of the Week feature to celebrate it. The other reason: one of the things on our mind this week was the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service this year. We just contributed a snippet about Rocky Mountain National Park, one of our favorites and were looking over our photos to pick to accompany it. We found this photo while looking and decided to save it for our readers. I shot it two years ago during our last visit there. I loved the reflection of the storm clouds reflected in Sprague Lake. We should have paid more attention. By the time we got back to the car we were soaked.
We lived in Fort Collins, Colorado about an hour from the park entrance for eight years. We spent a lot of time exploring the park when we lived there. It is loaded with lakes, wildlife, scenic views and outdoor activity options. If you haven’t been there put it on your next Colorado itinerary.
