Wednesday night was the first time we’ve visited The Railyard after dark. It looks great lit up at night! We were there for Station to Station, an  art train that’s currently crossing the USA. It started in NYC and it ends in Oakland. Santa Fe was one of the cities on the tour. Sadly (one of the main reasons we went was to see the train), the Station to Station folks arrived here on buses. They had detrained in Lamy and would reboard in Albuquerque. There was something about track use permits and Amtrak that hadn’t gotten worked out.

The two lit up yurts belong to Levi, the San Francisco based denim company, who is a tour sponsor. They set up yurts and sold their custom denim line and accessories at each stop. One yurt serves as a shop and the other holds artisans creating items for sale. They invite local crafts people to participate. Award-winning Chimayó weaver Irvin Trujillo had a loom set up in the yurt and was weaving panels that would be added to denim jackets offered for sale in Santa Fe and Winslow.

They will have an event in Winslow, AZ tomorrow, Saturday, September 21st and then move on to Barstow, LA and finally Oakland. Even if you can’t get tickets, there was a lot you could experience here without tickets.

The place looks very nice. Maybe I will have a chance to stroll down the streets of The Santa Fe Railyard at night 🙂

Would love to see eTramping come here- thought it’s a bit of a challenge on $25 a day. We may have to be your splurge.

Where’s a will, there’s a way! We will visit you one day 😀 Even though it’s not as cheap as Asia, we are sure we’ll find a way to do it on the cheap too. All the best guys, keep up the good work
